An international betting site is a bookmaker that holds a licence in one jurisdiction and accepts customers from many countries. Of the 31 sportsbooks in our data, we found 8 in a public licence register. All 8 hold an Anjouan licence. One of them, Lucknation, has a licence that ended on 4 October 2026, so 7 have a licence that is current today.
We have not tested any of them: no deposits, no bets, no withdrawals. Five are “not yet tested”, two are brands we could not confirm, and one we do not recommend.
What “international” means in practice
Three different places can be involved. The company that runs the site is registered in one country. The licence comes from a regulator in another. The customers can be almost anywhere. For example, GreatSlots is run by Brightsky Limited, a Belize company, and holds an Anjouan licence. The register lists Dracula Casino’s licensee as Softon Ltd, which the Swedish regulator identifies as a Cyprus company.
A licence protects you only as far as that regulator handles complaints and enforces its rules. It does not make a site legal in your country. Sweden’s regulator banned Softon Ltd from offering gambling in Sweden, even though its Anjouan licence is still listed.
Licences you will see on international betting sites
Not every licence offers the same checks. The table shows what each label means and what we could verify in our 58-casino audit.
| Label on the site | What it is | Can you search it? | In our audit |
|---|---|---|---|
| Anjouan | An offshore gambling licence from Anjouan, part of the Comoros | Yes. The public register lists licensee, number, dates and domains | 19 found by domain; 7 claimed but not found |
| Curaçao or Tobique | Offshore gambling licences | We could not search these registers as a full list | 13 claims marked “not checked” |
| Costa Rica company | A company registration, not a gambling licence | Not applicable | 19 list only this, or no licence at all |
| Your own country’s licence | Permission from the regulator where you live | National regulators publish registers | Outside the scope of this audit |
How we chose
- We took the 31 brands in our data that sources list with a sportsbook.
- We kept only those whose domain we found in the Anjouan public register, which had 1,298 rows when we downloaded it in October 2026. The method is in our licence audit.
- We copied the licensee, licence number and dates exactly as the register shows them, and we read the end dates ourselves.
- Currencies are as reported by the site or by the review sites named. We have not checked them in a cashier.
- Our positions follow the method on our how we review page.

Countries these sites do not accept
International does not mean available everywhere. These are the restrictions our sources record. Always read the site’s own list before you sign up.
| Sportsbook | Restrictions reported |
|---|---|
| AvoCasino | Ukraine not accepted (LCB). Sign-up offer not available in Ontario. |
| Bino.bet | Ukraine (SlotCatalog) |
| Cashobet | Ukraine (LCB) |
| Dracula Casino | The USA, UK, Australia, Netherlands, France, Germany, Spain, Sweden and others |
| TipTop | Ukraine not accepted; US players not allowed (LCB) |
| Chanze, GreatSlots, Lucknation | No list in our sources |
A country block is a legal limit. Trying to get around it can breach the site’s terms and put any winnings at risk.
Currencies, payments and odds formats
If a site does not offer your currency, your bank may charge conversion fees on deposits and withdrawals. GreatSlots, for example, lists only EUR and USD. Most sites in our data also list crypto. A crypto payment cannot be reversed by a bank.
International sites often let you switch the odds format. The three formats show the same price in different ways. The implied probability is 1 divided by the decimal odds.
| Decimal | Fractional | American | Implied probability |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1.50 | 1/2 | -200 | 66.7% |
| 2.00 | 1/1 (evens) | +100 | 50% |
| 2.50 | 6/4 | +150 | 40% |
| 4.00 | 3/1 | +300 | 25% |
What to watch out for
- One licence, many brands. Licence ALSI-202504026-FI1 covers bino.bet, casho.bet, tip-top.bet, luckygem.com and other domains in the register. The same licensee answers for all of them, but each brand’s terms can differ.
- Register status can lag. Lucknation’s entry ended on 4 October 2026 but its status column still says “valid”. Read the dates, not only the status.
- Withdrawal limits. Stated limits vary a lot. MightyTips lists a EUR 100 minimum and EUR 2,000 daily maximum for Chanze. AskGamblers lists EUR 5,000 per week for Lucknation. Dracula Casino’s terms set EUR 1,000 per day.
- Support language. Chanze’s “live chat” reportedly routes to email. Check that support works in a language you read before you deposit.
- Local protections. Your country’s dispute services and self-exclusion schemes do not reach a foreign site. Betting is for adults only (18+, or older where your law says so). Set a deposit limit before you start. Our responsible gambling page lists support services.
FAQ
What is the difference between an international and a local bookmaker?
A local bookmaker is licensed by your own country’s regulator. That regulator can handle your complaint and enforce local rules, such as national self-exclusion. An international bookmaker is licensed somewhere else, so those local protections usually do not apply.
Are international betting sites legal?
It depends on where you live. Many countries allow only locally licensed bookmakers to take bets from residents. We cannot give legal advice, so check your national or state gambling regulator.
Are international betting sites safe?
There is no general answer. A licence you can find in the regulator’s own register is the minimum check. It does not prove that a site pays out. We will only say more about a site after our own tests.
Which international bookmakers accept players from my country?
Check the site’s terms for a “restricted countries” list, and check your national regulator’s rules. Our reviews note restrictions where our sources list them.
Do I pay tax on winnings from an international betting site?
Tax depends on the country you live in, not on where the bookmaker is licensed. Some countries tax betting winnings and some do not. Foreign sites rarely send tax statements, so keep your own records.
What payment methods do international betting sites accept?
Most sites in our data list cards, e-wallets and several cryptocurrencies. The table above shows the currencies reported for each one. Methods and limits can differ by country.
Gambling is entertainment, not a way to make money. Set a deposit limit before you play. If you have self-excluded in your country, an offshore casino will not honour it, so please do not use one to get around it.
