Do not use a VPN to reach a casino that does not accept players from your country. None of the 58 casinos in our data says it allows VPN use. The only casino terms in our data that mention VPNs, Amunbet’s, prohibit them and allow accounts to be closed “without the possibility of appeal”. Even where the terms say nothing, casinos check your ID and address before they pay out. That is usually when a hidden location comes to light, and when winnings are at risk.
What a VPN does and why it matters to a casino
A VPN sends your internet traffic through a server run by the VPN company, so websites see that server’s location instead of yours. That can be useful for privacy on public Wi-Fi. For a casino it is a problem, because the casino has to know which country you are in to follow its licence and the law where you live.
Why casinos block some countries
A casino must follow its licence conditions and the laws of the countries it serves, so it publishes a list of restricted countries. In our data, Dracula Casino’s terms restrict the UK, the US and Australia, and Dazard, Lizaro and Trixino restrict the UK and US. Some sites show a block page instead: SlotLair and LegionBet display a “restricted region” page, and Casinacho sends blocked visitors to a “not allowed” page.
How a hidden location usually comes to light
Before a casino pays out, it checks your ID, your address and the payment method or wallet you use. If those point to a country the casino does not accept, the account is in breach of its terms, whatever location the casino saw when you signed up. That is why problems tend to appear at the first withdrawal, after you have already deposited and played.
How we chose
We searched the records of all 58 casinos in our database (see how we review) for VPN rules, restricted-country lists, block pages and ID-check rules. The table shows what we found. It is not a list of places to play.
“Licence confirmed” means we found the casino’s own domain in the Anjouan public licence register on 30 October 2026, with a licence still in date, as set out in our offshore casino licence audit. “No” means we could not confirm a licence. The Curaçao and Tobique registers cannot be searched as a full list, so those claims are unchecked, not proven false.
What our data shows about location rules
| Casino | Location rule in our data | ID checks reported | Licence confirmed | Our position |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Amunbet | T&Cs prohibit VPN use; accounts can be closed for shared-IP activity without appeal | Documents may be requested at any time (T&Cs) | No | Do not recommend |
| Dracula Casino | T&Cs 3.1.2 restrict the UK, US and Australia | At the first withdrawal and at any time (T&Cs) | Yes, Anjouan | Do not recommend |
| Dazard | UK and US restricted | ID, address, payment, selfie; video or phone possible (LCB) | Yes, Anjouan | Not yet tested |
| PlayFina | UK, US and parts of Canada restricted | Complaints of repeated document requests (AskGamblers) | Yes, Anjouan | Not yet tested |
| Trixino | UK and US restricted | Not described in our sources | Yes, Anjouan | Not yet tested |
| Casinacho | Site redirects blocked visitors to a “not allowed” page | KYC before the first withdrawal (spy-casino.com) | No | Do not recommend |
| SlotLair | Site shows a “restricted region” page | KYC may be needed on first withdrawal (mr-gamble.com) | No | Do not recommend |
What can happen to your account
- Your winnings can be voided. Hiding your location breaks the terms, and a casino can close the account and refuse to pay. Our data already records complaints about closed accounts and confiscated funds at Bino.bet and HappyJokers (Casino Guru). A proven terms breach leaves you with no case.
- ID checks show your real country. Casinos ask for proof of address and proof that the payment method is yours. Some, such as Rolletto and Velobet, add selfies or video calls, according to LCB.
- No one to complain to. If you played from a restricted country, the casino’s regulator is unlikely to take your side, and you may also be breaking your own country’s gambling law.
- “VPN-friendly” lists are marketing. A website saying a casino accepts VPNs cannot change that casino’s terms.
Why “VPN-friendly” claims do not protect you
Many pages rank “VPN-friendly” casinos or VPN services for gambling. They rarely mention what decides the outcome: the casino’s terms and the documents you send at withdrawal. A casino that does not block a VPN connection at sign-up has not agreed to pay a player from a country it excludes. Most of these lists earn money when readers sign up, and none of them can help you if a casino later closes your account.
A VPN also adds nothing to your protection as a player. Your money is safe only if the casino is licensed, answers to a regulator and is allowed to serve you.
Safer choices
- Play only where it is legal for you, at a casino licensed for your country or state where one exists.
- Read the restricted-countries list before you sign up, not after a win.
- When you travel, the rules of the country you are in apply. Do not use a VPN to appear to be at home.
- If you use a VPN for everyday privacy, switch it off before you visit a casino site.
- Never use a VPN to get around self-exclusion or a block set up to protect you. Offshore casinos do not honour your country’s self-exclusion scheme, so the protection has to come from you and the support around you.
Gambling is for adults 18+ only, or older where local law says so. If you feel the urge to get around a block, that is a good moment to talk to someone; our responsible gambling page lists helplines.
FAQ
Is there a casino that accepts VPNs?
Not in our data. No casino we track says it allows VPN use, and the one set of terms that mentions VPNs bans them.
Is it illegal to use a VPN for gambling?
VPNs themselves are legal in the UK, Ireland, the US, Canada, Australia and New Zealand. Using one to gamble where the casino or your local law does not allow it breaks the casino’s terms and, in some countries, gambling law. A VPN does not make an unlicensed casino legal for you.
Can a casino keep my winnings if I used a VPN?
Casino terms commonly allow it when a player breaks the rules on location. Amunbet’s terms, for example, allow account closure without appeal.
When would the casino find out?
Often at the ID check before your first withdrawal, when your documents and payment method show where you live. Many casinos also keep the right to check at any time.
Can I use a VPN to play while travelling?
We advise against it. The law of the country you are in applies, and your usual casino may not be allowed there. Wait until you are home, or play only at a site that is legal where you are.
Gambling is entertainment, not a way to make money. Set a deposit limit before you play. If you have self-excluded in your country, an offshore casino will not honour it, so please do not use one to get around it.
