Our short answer

KYC means “know your customer”: the checks a gambling site makes to confirm who you are. Of the 31 sportsbooks in our data, none says it never checks ID. Where a policy is recorded, the site keeps the right to ask for documents, most often before the first withdrawal. A sportsbook that lets you sign up without ID will usually still ask when you cash out.

This page explains the rules and the risks. It does not explain how to avoid ID checks, and we will not.

What “no KYC” usually means

“No KYC” in an advert normally describes the sign-up step only. The table shows the models we see in practice.

Model At sign-up When ID is asked for
No ID at sign-up Email, sometimes a phone number At the first withdrawal, or when an account is flagged. The most common pattern in our data
Threshold checks Basic details When deposits or withdrawals pass a set amount, or at random
Checks at any time Basic details Whenever the site decides, often with withdrawals held until you comply
Never Nothing Never. No sportsbook in our data says this

Why sportsbooks check ID

  • Age. Betting is for adults only (18+, or older where your law says so). ID checks keep minors out.
  • Money laundering rules. Licensed operators are generally required to know where money comes from and who receives it.
  • Payment ownership. Sites check that the card, wallet or bank account is yours.
  • Fraud and duplicate accounts. Checks stop one person from opening several accounts to claim bonuses.

What triggers an ID check

  • The first withdrawal. This is the most common rule in our data, for example at MonsterWin (per Casino.org) and SlotLair (per mr-gamble.com).
  • A set amount. GreatSlots’ terms name EUR/USD 5,000 or more, single or combined, but the same terms allow checks at lower amounts or at random.
  • Any time. Dracula Casino’s terms, and the policy recorded for Amunbet, allow document requests at any time.
  • Other common triggers. A new payment method, a bonus review, a change of personal details, or activity the site sees as unusual.

Stated verification times range from under 24 hours to about 10 days. These figures come from the sites and from other review sites. We have not timed them ourselves.

Which documents are asked for

The documents named in our data are usually these:

  • A passport, ID card or driving licence.
  • A proof of address, such as a utility bill or bank statement.
  • Proof that you own the card, wallet or bank account you used.
  • A selfie holding your ID, or a video or phone call.
  • For some sites, financial statements or a transaction history. Amunbet’s policy and Lizaro’s terms both mention these.

Send documents only through the account area of a site whose domain you have checked, never to an email address you cannot verify.

How we chose

  • We took every brand in our data that sources list with a sportsbook: 31 in total.
  • We recorded the ID policy from the site’s terms where we could read them, or from the named review site.
  • We checked licences against the Anjouan public register (1,298 rows when we downloaded it in October 2026) and read each end date. The method is in our licence audit.
  • Our positions follow the method on our how we review page. We have not opened accounts at any of these sites.

Sportsbooks without a licence

Thirteen of these 31 sportsbooks list only a Costa Rica company, or no gambling licence that we could find. A missing licence does not mean fewer ID checks. Lizaro, Magius and Sankra, for example, all list detailed document rules. The difference is that your passport and bank details then go to a company that no gambling regulator supervises.

What to watch out for

  • “No KYC” in an advert is not a rule. The terms decide. Many terms let the site ask for documents at any time and hold a withdrawal until you comply.
  • Verification used as a delay. A complaint on AskGamblers describes a Goldzino withdrawal blocked by repeated document requests. Trustpilot reviewers of Lucknation report withdrawals blocked even after verification. These are player reports, not facts we have confirmed.
  • Deadlines that cost you money. LCB reports that SpinAlto may confiscate bonus winnings if documents are not sent within 40 days.
  • Never use someone else’s documents or account. That is fraud. It is also a common reason sites give for keeping winnings.
  • Self-exclusion. Offshore sportsbooks do not check your country’s self-exclusion scheme. Please do not use them to get around it. Our responsible gambling page lists help.

FAQ

Is there a sportsbook with no KYC at all?

Not in our data. Every sportsbook with a readable policy keeps the right to ask for ID. For two (Chanze and Fanobet) our sources record no policy, which is not the same as having none.

Can I withdraw without verifying my identity?

Expect to be asked before or during your first withdrawal. Some terms name a threshold, such as EUR/USD 5,000 at GreatSlots, but also allow checks below it. It is usually smoother to finish verification before you have a withdrawal waiting.

Are crypto sportsbooks anonymous?

No. Blockchain payments are recorded in public, and most exchanges verify their own customers. The sportsbook can also still ask you for ID before it pays out.

Is a sportsbook without a licence better for privacy?

No. Unlicensed sites in our data still ask for documents. Without a regulator, you have no one to complain to if that data is misused.

How long does verification take?

Stated times range from 0 to 24 hours (Winairlines, per LCB) to up to 10 business days (Roby Casino, per LCB). These are stated figures, not our own measurements.
